Workers were out this week regrading the trail from the Revere line in Malden to Malden Square. One worker said he expected paving to begin on Thursday, Aug. 1 at the Revere line in Malden.

The trail in Malden and Everett is closed while the work is being done. When the work is done, the trail will be paved from near route 16 in Everett near the Best Buy store all the way to Linden Square in Malden near the Revere line. This will help open up better connections to Boston and the trails along the Mystic River.

Although there are no firm plans to pave the Saugus portion yet, the section from Central Street to the Saugus River Bridge is expected to receive a recycled asphalt surface by the end of August. Town officials are considering a couple of different trail surface options. Either type will be similar to what was done west of Central Street.
