Revere Trail Preview and Cleanup Set For April 12

A view of the Rumney Marsh
The Northern Strand Community Trail will run along side of the Rumney Marsh in Revere.

A spring cleanup and preview of the Revere portion of the trail will be held on April 12, 2014. This one-mile section of the Northern Strand Community Trail skirts the edge of Rumney Marsh in Revere. It has spectacular views out over a 2,600 acre salt marsh rarely seen by Bostonians or even locals of Revere and Malden.

Over the spring and summer of 2014 Bike to the Sea Inc. will be working with the city of Revere and Iron Horse Preservation Society, the contractor, to build a gravel trail linking Everett, Malden, Revere and Saugus into a seven mile long continuous trail.

To join the cleanup from Malden, park in the public lot in Linden Square and walk east heading towards Route 1.  Look for “Trail Clean Up” signs. In Revere, park on Blodgett Street parallel to Route 1, across from Linden Square and Malden Masonry Supply. The cleanup will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Tools and trash bags will be provided, as well as a light lunch. For more information, contact Clay Larsen at (617) 908-1022 or email clarsen@groundworklawrence.org.
