Music, Food, Prizes, and Art at Community Day Bash in Lynn

There will be music, food, prizes, and art at the first annual Community Day Bash in Lynn on Saturday, September, 10, 2016.

All are welcome to come celebrate and learn about the Community Path of Lynn from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the path in the Neptune Street Court area. Efforts are underway to create an off-road path, along an abandoned railway, that can be used by pedestrians, joggers, bicyclists, skateboarders, rollerbladers, dog walkers, neighborhood groups and others.

The abandoned railway line is the same one that ran along the Northern Strand Trail through Everett, Malden, Revere, and Saugus. The abandoned rails in those towns have already been removed to create the 7.5-mile stretch of the Northern Strand Trail. Work still needs to be done to create the Community Path, including the removal of the rail lines. Neighborhood groups, most notably One Community, One Voice, have held several cleanups along the trail.

A major highlight of the day will be the unveiling of a large mural, designed and painted by teens at Raw Art Works in Lynn. Blank art walls next to the mural will be available for participants to paint. The first community garden along the path will also be ready for planting during the festivities.

The first annual Community Day Bash is sponsored by the Community Path of Lynn Coalition and the Lynn Cultural Council.
