Bicyclists Should Attend Malden Meeting on ‘Complete Streets’

Members of Bike to the Sea are encouraging residents to attend a “Complete Streets” meeting in Malden on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 to speak out for bicycle safety.

“Complete Streets” is a program where communities consider the safety of all travelers — including, pedestrians, motorists, bicyclists, and those with disabilities — before making any roadway improvements or changes. The City of Malden is seeking funding from the state transportation department and is holding the meeting to hear from people who travel through Malden about specific improvements that are needed. Bike to Sea is hoping those that attend will speak up for bicycle safety.

The meeting will be held at the Malden Senior Center, 7 Washington St., in Malden between 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29. The city’s Complete Streets Task Force and officials from the Metropolitan Area Planning Council will talk about the funding program and the required application. After a brief presentation those in attendance will be asked to share their thoughts on potential locations for projects.

Malden’s Complete Streets Task Force held its first meeting on Jan. 17, 2017.
