More than 60 people turned out for the annual April Fools’ Ride on Saturday, April 8.
The large group rode under sunny skies starting on Canal Street in Malden across from the Cambridge Health Alliance near where a bike repair shop, called a “bike kitchen”, will soon be built. From there they rode along the off-road, paved Northern Strand Trail, to on-road bike lanes through Melrose, stopping at “The Loop,” a collective of three mom-owned businesses that includes a bike repair shop, a toy-lending library, and a “lend and mend” space.
There, riders took turns posing for photos behind a “Bike to the Sea” frame while others purchased a quick drink and/or snack.

Bike to the Sea board member Pete Sutton led the 13-mile ride which ended at Faces Brewing Company in Malden Square.
The ride was free to all Bike to the Sea members. For information on becoming a member, check out this page.
Many more rides and events are scheduled.
