Bike to the Sea, in collaboration with the Office of Senator Jason Lewis, Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC), and the support from the municipalities of Malden, Melrose and Stoneham, was recently awarded a MassTrails Grant for planning and public outreach to fine-tune route alignment, and fabrication and installation of wayfinding signs and markings for approximately five (5) miles of the ten (10) mile long Mystic Highlands Greenway which runs north (from Wakefield/Lynnfield rail trails) to south and will tie into the Northern Strand Trail.
The Greenway will ultimately connect the Northern Strand Trail, Malden River paths, Tri-Community Greenway, Wakefield/Lynnfield Rail Trail, and Lake Quannapowitt, along with commercial centers, transit hubs, and other community spaces throughout the MetroNorth.
