The estimated $11 million Northern Strand Trail Extension project in Lynn is in progress and is tentatively scheduled to start construction this winter or spring 2024. It includes extending the trail another 1.9 miles to the east along the Lynn Common, Market Street and Lynnway to Nahant Beach indicated with the blue line in the photo above.
We have been recently notified that a Lynn City Councilor has requested an opportunity to have a reconsideration of Vote THIS FRIDAY, August 11. With enough “No” votes from Councilors, the project has the potential to be put on hold or cause delays, not meet deadlines and lose funding. With this, we kindly ask that the cycling community attend the in-person special city council meeting at Lynn City Hall on Friday, August 11 at 5:30pm to show support for the project.
There is not an opportunity to speak, however, as it is not a public hearing. The meeting notice is provided in the button below. With such short notice, would you please help us spread the word about this special meeting? If you have the availability to attend the meeting, we would greatly appreciate your presence!
Alternatively, if you are unable to attend the meeting, please consider writing a brief letter of support to Counsilor-At-Large, Brian P. LaPierre at Brian.LaPierre@lynnma.gov or can be reached by phone at 617-974-1243.
