Bike to the Sea hit its stride in 2025! We exploded our reach and our impact everywhere by hosting a whopping 75+ events to get everyone pumped about healthy recreation, champion safe transportation, and to support the amazing Northern Strand Trail. We refurbished and donated roughly 75 bicycles from the B2C Bike Kitchen to community members. We taught 150 youth and adults how to ride a bicycle. We helped install a 100-foot long art mural along the trail in Everett. Read further to see a glimpse of the awesome things weโalong with some of our stellar partner local organizationsโaccomplished this year.

Highlights from 2025
B2C Bike Kitchen

We gained more B2C Bike Kitchen volunteers who helped to refurbish and provide 33% more bicycles to community members than last year. We doubled the number of bikes given away to youth and participants in our Learn to Ride program. Our volunteers served 311 new guests with over 900 all time visits to date.
Trail Walks

We started a walking group series every first Saturday of the month where we casually walked along the Northern Strand Trail and sites near the trail in different trail communities.
National Bike to Work Day

We participated in Bostonโs National Bike to Work Day Festival celebrating National Bike to Work Day by hosting group bike convoys led by Bike to the Sea Volunteers. The convoys started from different North Shore Communities, rode along the Northern Strand Trail and picked up riders at different meeting points, and ended at Bostonโs City Hall Plaza where they were met with various bicycle supporter groups and organizations.
Bicycle Trailer Grocery Delivery

We helped the local non-profit organization, Bread of Life, deliver boxed groceries to our neighbors in Everett who are homebound by using our personal cargo bicycle or bike trailer! One recipient was so grateful and marveled at the sight and idea of receiving her groceries by bicycle! Overall, 10 boxes were delivered in a span of 2 hours.
Grrrease Time at the B2C Bike Kitchen

The B2C Bike Kitchen and Femmechanics, a group of FTW (femme/trans/women/non-binary) people in the greater-Boston area who wrench at open workshops, host group rides, organize social events, held an open shop evening by and for women, trans, and nonbinary people. We learned to fix bikes and made new friends!
Art Mural Installation

We and the City of Everett, Mystic River Watershed Association and Clean Up Everett hosted a unique event which included a trail cleanup followed immediately by the painting and ribbon cutting ceremony of the newest mural along the Northern Strand Trail located beneath the Route 16 overpass in Everett.
Learn to Ride Program

We partnered with The Great Malden Outdoors and the City of Malden in the Learn to Ride a Bike program during the summer months providing both kids and adult classes at the Linden STEAM Academy on Tuesday mornings. Many left the classes confident and excited to continue biking!
E-Bike Trainings and Bike Rides

Along with MassBike, we hosted an e-bike introductory ride for CEC E-bike voucher recipients and new e-bike users on the Northern Strand Trail starting at the Bike to the Sea Bike Kitchen in Malden to Downtown Lynn and back. We also helped provide new e-bike user training on how to use and ride an e-bike safely and defensively both on trails and roads.
