Malden Porch Fest @ The Bike Kitchen
May 31, 2025 @ 1:30 pm – 5:30 pm

We are hosting a stage for three bands to perform at the Bike Kitchen, located at 158 Canal St., for the first time! Come for the FREE performances, stay for the sense of community and belonging!
The schedule will be as follows:

1:30 – 2pm – Katey and The Illicit
Genre: Indie
Katey and the Illicit is a three piece female fronted indie rock band from the North Shore. Started by three friends who frequented the local open mic scene that decided to work together for a single cause. Front woman Katey O’Callaghan captures crowds with her beautiful guitar playing and amazing lyrics.

3 – 4pm – Gompson (Our Board Member, Pete’s band!)
Genre: Rock
Rising from the ashes of 90’s Boston pop phenoms The Barnies, Gompson delivers songs that are by turns lush, angular, hopeful and bleak. Sensing a trend? Yeah, the band has a fear of commitment. To any particular musical genre. Think Radiohead, Elvis Costello,The Killers, Big Star, Pixies, Baby Ray. Then think again, and open your mind to Gompson. Principal songwriter Avram Gleitsman has collaborated with Blue Man Group on their album “The Complex”, and has contributed music to Everett Bradley’s “Holidelic”.

4:30 – 5:30pm – The Zip-Ups
Genre: Rock
The Zip-Ups are a collective of musicians, each one a relic from the glorious (or maybe not-so-glorious) era of 90s Boston bands, with former members of Jumprope, Miles Dethmuffen, Lurking About, The Weaklings, and Scrapple. Each member of The Zip-Ups brings their own distinct musical style and influences, resulting in a sound someone described as “jangle-delic.” (We’ll take it.) Expect tight harmonies, humorous wordplay, and occasionally inappropriate banter. We think we’re pretty fun.
