The Northern Strand Trail is one of 10 featured Trail Rides in the State!

Bike to the Sea on the Northern Strand Community Trail!

Stretching 10 miles from Everett to Lynn, this paved path links Boston’s urban core to the North Shore coast. Built on the former Saugus Branch Railroad, the trail is now part of the East Coast Greenway, a planned 3,000-mile route from Maine to Florida!

Highlights along the way:

  • Bike to the Sea Bike Kitchen – A welcoming community space where you can tune up your bike with tools, spare parts, and volunteer support.
  • Rumney Marsh Reservation – A 600-acre salt marsh with seating areas to birdwatch and take in the scenery.
  • Saugus River Trail Bridge – A striking steel bridge completed in 2021, extending the trail seamlessly into Lynn.
  • Nahant Beach – End your ride at the ocean and cool off in the Atlantic while enjoying one of the cleanest beaches in the Boston area.

From city streets to coastal views, the Northern Strand delivers history, nature, and a refreshing ride to the sea. Who’s ready to ride?
